The Rock Island Bridge is looking for an energetic, dependable Porter / Event Support Team Member to help keep our venue operating at its best. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys staying busy, takes pride in their work, and loves interacting with people.
We're looking for self-starters, the kind of person who naturally looks around, sees what needs to be done, and gets it done without being asked. Every day is different on the Rock Island Bridge, so flexibility, a positive attitude, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed are essential.
Responsibilities
- Reset and arrange furniture in outdoor public spaces and indoor event spaces on the Bridge
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the venue throughout the day and during events
- Bus tables and assist with general cleaning as needed
- Serve as a point of contact for clients and vendors arriving to set up for events
- Assist clients and vendors with loading in equipment and event materials
- Provide basic AV and lighting support for events
- Help ensure events are set up correctly and running smoothly
- Respond quickly to changing event needs and assist other team members as needed
Qualifications
- Friendly, outgoing, and professional with excellent customer service skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Comfortable performing physical work, including lifting, moving furniture, and being on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of audio/visual equipment is a plus (training can be provided)
- Nights, weekends, and holidays required based on the event schedule
- Spanish speakers are a plus
