The Bridge is open to the general public from March to December. Hours vary by day; see the “Working Hours” section at the bottom of the page for more specific details.

This fall, patrons can only enter from the east side (Hy-vee/Kemper Arena). Free street parking is available on American Royal Dr, and paid garage parking is available in the West Bottoms Garage.

Yes, children are welcome on the bridge. Those aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times for safety. Families are encouraged to visit and enjoy the space together.

Rainy day? No worries – we’ve got you covered (literally). The central truss of the Bridge is fully covered by a roof and is equipped with wind-blocking screens and ceiling-mounted heaters to keep you warm on a chilly day.

Yes, the Rock Island Bridge is pet-friendly. Leashed pets are welcome throughout the bridge, except inside the restaurant. Waste stations and outdoor seating areas are available for your furry friends.

Nothing! The Rock Island Bridge is open to the general public during business hours for no admission fee. There are opportunities to purchase food, drinks, or private rentals, but none are required to visit the Bridge. Whether you’re getting some work done on a laptop, reading a book, or just watching the planes go by, there’s something for everyone to do on the Bridge!

Yes! There is public wi-fi access available near the River House restaurant, so you can make the Bridge your remote work location for the day.

The Rock Island Bridge has a carrying capacity that equates to roughly 7 million pounds. The Bridge was built to support fully loaded train cars that traveled across it daily. The Bridge has been thoroughly inspected by multiple Kansas City engineering firms, and has been deemed robust and more than capable of supporting these functions.
